    DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)

Hello, been getting random shutdown hangs, normally after I've left the PC on for a while. I wanted to upgrade my SSD to a Samsung Pro 500GB using their cloning software, but it froze the SSD. So I returned it. I still have my Vertex SSD 256GB. Since then been getting the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) BSOD:

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I did do a few tweaks on my SSD after returning the Samsung which froze when cloning. It is not a big issue because I can reinstal Windows 7 eventually. But before I do that I would like to try and fix the problem if it is a driver issue.

    Click on button below ....

It will download the DM log collector. Right click on the application and run as administrator. It will generate a .zip file on your desktop. Upload the .zip.

Thanks a lot. I checked that my graphics card and all my hard drives were connected properly just now. Everything seemed OK, but I did notice that when I pulled out the case, the DVI/VGA cable came loose, so I have screwed that in properly. I know loose cables can often cause this type of thing.

If I do have to make a fresh Windows instal I think I'll just purchase a 1TB SSD and load Windows on that. As a gamer I see no reason to upgrade to Windows 8 at present. However I'd like to avoid that if it is just a case of a simple driver update. Thanks again.

I didn't run that file as Administrator though I have those privileges by default. I hope the zip.file is OK.

Download and install Asmedia USB3.0 Controller Driver V1.16.10.0 from Motherboards - P9X79 PRO - ASUS.

Let us know for any further BSOD.

Thank you, just installed them. I'll close the case once I've tested it, cheers. One last thing, when I had the freeze cloning the current hard drive. Did windows automatically install basic drivers for motherboard etc? Should I reinstall the LAN/SATA/BIOS/Chipset etc too?

If you want, you may update all the listed drivers from that page; but IMHO it is better to not fix it when it is not causing a problem.

I'm afraid that did not work.

Actually there is no further crash dump in the zip after that one of 13/02. So I cannot verify it, mate. But as it it a desktop computer, you may disable sleep as a test and see how it goes.

Already disabled. I'll see how it goes. Otherwise I'll just do a fresh install of Windows. Thanks mate.
