PC crashes when entering sleep mode, claims a BSOD failure

Hi.

My PC used to be able to enter and leave sleep mode without any problems, then about a couple of months ago it started failing every time, whether I command it to sleep or it sleeps due to power options. I haven't made any manual changes to hardware or software that could have caused it, but there have obviously been plenty of Windows updates in that time.

When the PC tries to go to sleep, there is no visible BSOD. It seems to take the usual steps (i.e. warns me about software preventing it from sleeping, then shuts them down) before the screen goes black, but from that point it takes about 10 minutes (during which the hard drive activity light flashes most of the time) before it finally powers off.

When I power the PC back on, instead of it resuming Windows, I get the early boot menu telling me that the system didn't shut down correctly and asking me to choose a normal/safe boot. Once Windows has loaded, I get a "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" message similar to the following:

Code:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
  OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
  Locale ID: 2057

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode: 9f
  BCP1: 0000000000000003
  BCP2: FFFFFA800557D4D0
  BCP3: FFFFF80000B9A518
  BCP4: FFFFFA800D452600
  OS Version: 6_1_7601
  Service Pack: 1_0
  Product: 768_1
Hitting the "Check for a solution" button gives me nothing of use (it actually tells me nothing at all, usually, not even confirming that it's managed to check anything at all). I've looked at the minidump but I don't know enough to know what I'm looking at or know whether it's of use.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Neil.

Hi again. Thanks very much, that seems to have solved it: the PC sleeps and wakes properly again (so far). Out of interest, how did you get that error message out of those logs? I'd like to know where to look in the future. Thanks, Neil.
