Screen Turns to Static

I have had two BSOD's so far where the screen turns to static and it registers as BSOD. Static meaning like stereotypical old tv's rainbow lines running across the screen.

The first BSOD it went to static and then restarted on it's own, giving me the 'Windows encountered a problem' on restart

The second BSOD it went to static and I had to manually restart.

Graphics card is a refurbished sapphire radeon hd 7870, probably has something to do with it.

Need help pinpointing what exactly is wrong, thanks!

Backup all data immediately, then test the Samsung SSD and WD HDD using the DOS version of the LONG test of SeaTools as described here:
SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

There is a very strong probability you will need to replace the disk/s. If you are lucky it might just be the SATA cables. Lets see what the test tells us.

When I booted to the SeaTools DOS it said scanning for controllers, then no controller detected, then no hard drives detected.

Oops, sorry for not reading the whole thing. I ran the test and it said both disks PASSED, should I run it again to make sure or does that narrow down the problems?

Did it pass when running the DOS version?

Yes, unless the DOS version isn't the one where you boot into it from a USB drive.

PowerColor Radeon HD 4890 (DVI) Static on Screen?
