BSOD when playing videos, error 0x00000116, atikmpag.sys

Laptop model: HP laptop Pavilion Dv6-6003tx
Laptop specs: Contact HP Support and Customer Service | HP® Support

Happens within 10mins to 2hrs of online video streaming for example using YouTube. I haven't tried playing an offline video from other sources to see if it happens.
It use to happen when i play games like Call of Duty and League of Legends and at the same time i would video stream and usually it happens when i tab over to the video streaming before the full reformatting was done.

Most of the time it would start off with "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered".
Than the BSOD happens after.

I would say as of now playing games would not really trigger this issue. It is more of when videos are streaming from websites. And sometimes switching back from full screen to the small windowed section or the other way around on the website would also trigger "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" and the BSOD errors.

This has been persisting for awhile even after having a fully reformatted windows on all drives.
All drivers and windows updates has been done with HP Support Assistant and official windows 7 online updates

Hello, PuBEvo and welcome to the forums. I will try to help you with this. First I would like you to fill out your system specs in the proper place so they will be there for us on any post. This is how.
Please fill out your System Specs

information   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

I have looked at your dump files and they are all the same.

Code:
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
 Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa800f080010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff88004414b78, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).

Arg3: 0000000000000000, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 0000000000000002, Optional internal context dependent data.

That is your video driver and TDR (Time Delay and Response) basically means your driver crashed and did not recover in time. It can also mean that if you have switchable graphics, the switch does not occur in time.

This is your driver
Code:
atikmpag
start end module name

I think you can see it is past due to be updated. Please Update the driver From the HP website for your Laptop, but try it this way

I am going to give you some links that will help you get a good clean install and not have any drivers you don't need that will conflict with other drivers. Download a WHQL driver from the HP Web Site . Once you have them downloaded, uninstall you current driver from control panel. next clean up any left over drivers from following this tutorial Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling and select only ATI Display Drivers. After you have done that and rebooted, install the new driver, only select custom install and install only what you have to. Very few people need most of what they include. You do not need the audio/HDMI drivers as you already have that in your Motherboard drivers. Unless there is some reason you need them, the only thing you really need is the Display Driver.

I am not totally sure exactly what you are doing, but I would keep constant check on your GPU temps and CPU temps. You should also ask yourself if you are not expecting too much from your graphics card.

Hi essenbe, thank you for helping.

I have updated my Laptop system specs.

I am not very sure and confused about the latest and i kind of installed the latest ones which was picked by "HP Support Assistant" program. Can i know which WHQL driver to download and install from the list HP Pavilion dv6-6003tx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers & Downloads | HP® Support
Please can you guide me as to which i really need?

I have not monitored the CPU & GPU temps, but i am quite sure i am not stressing out the temps to overheat them because at times it happens within 10mins or less.

Hope to hear from you.

I'm not sure how to help you with which driver. The page you linked to wants to scan my computer. Obviously, I don't need HP drivers and I can't see what you are offered. But, it wouldn't hurt to update most of your drivers. But make sure it is for the hardware in your computer. The graphics driver you will want is an AMD graphics version for your card. If it lists versions by number the highest number is the latest driver. the higher the number, the later the driver. Look in the notes and it should tell you which cards it is for. You can also go by the dates. The dates should be the date it was released. Be sure to completely uninstall your current drier before installing the new one.

Below are a list of drivers for my laptop model. And there are also four GPU drivers as attached.
I actually tried installing all of them and still have an issue. Maybe there is driver conflicts but i will follow your advice you mentioned in your first reply as soon as you would tell me which i do need or to try.

Thank you!

Click the more details link on the top one and see if your card or notebook model are listed. If so, use that one.

My issue was solved with cleaning out all display drivers completely with DDU and doing a complete fresh and updated display driver.
I never experienced any BSOD during this period so far so good.
Thank you Essenbe.

Hi essenbe,

It came back. I ran into the same issue again earlier a couple of times. While playing all video streams, it would start off with "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered". Than the BSOD happens after.

This time when i run the dm log collector, i do not get any contents in the SFdebugFiles folder after it was created. Would need some advice on that.

But here's the BSOD screen shot.
