BSOD 116 Recently started happening for unknown reason Dump and DM Log

Hi,

I started having a 116 BSOD recently and just over the last few days it has started happening more frequently. I have uploaded two of the most recent Dump Files to SkyDrive if anyone wants to take a look, plus I have uploaded the DM Collector as per forum request.

https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=EAC38...A69DB547%21201

It happens mainly when I am in game, it has happened while in a heavily modded Skyrim game a couple of times and in Pillars of Eternity once. I cannot remember if it has happened away from a game environment. I played Skyrim for 5-6 hours last night and had no problems at all, then today I crashed within 2 mins of loading the game and looking around.

I am up to date with Windows updates and have the latest Nvidia drivers for my GTX 690, I have not installed or uninstalled anything new to cause this that I am aware of, I have only installed a few games but nothing stood out as being the cause.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I started Skyrim again and crashed within a minute but this time it did not produce a dump report, I then loaded the game again and was able to play for a couple of hours before bed without any problems at all.

Please reinstall the video drivers, but follow this guide exactly:

Thanks for the reply Golden FSM

That is how I install my drivers each time I upgrade mate, I also do a clean sweep so there is no chance of a corrupted file. I had updated my Nvidia Drivers from 347.52 to 347.88 cleanly yesterday following this method and I still had 2 BSOD crashes.

OK. Does the motherboard have an onboard video chip?

Please try disabling that, then see if you still get the 0x116 TDR crashes.

Ok will do. (Just crashed trying to reply to this thread after running Skyrim for 15 mins) No BSOD but black screen and just hung until I held the power button down to turn it off and reboot.

I have uploaded the new Dump File to SkyDrive: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=EAC38...1201&mkt=en-AU

Also it may be worth mentioning that when I recovered from a Black screen hang or a BSOD I would check the Event viewer to find an "Event 36888. Schannel" error repeated 20 times in a row (The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 10.), right after that an "Event 14, nvlddmkm" error pasted below, that was repeated 17 times in a row.

The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video7
CMDre 00000010 00000ffc ffffffff 00000007 00ffffff

I will disable the onboard graphics now (this has been active/enabled for a very long time over the course of the PCs life (2-3 years) and I have never had a problem with it).

0x116's often occur when the graphics switches (or tries too) between the onboard card (less intensive graphics) and the high-end card (more intensive graphics), or vice versa. By turning off the onboard, I'm hoping this solves the 0x116's.

Unfortunately, as drivers for the two are updated, they may clash with each other, or even the system, which is why you see this behaviour, where before you never did.

Ok thanks for the explanation, I did not know that. I am struggling to find how to disable the onboard mate as I have never done it before, any suggestions or links to a guide?
