BSOD atikmpag.sys Dell N5010

Hi everyone

My sister's DELL N5010 has started bluescreening and atikmpag.sys is always mentioned on the memory dump screen.

The actions I have taken so far are:

Update BIOS from A10 to A15 (latest)

Full system reimage back to factory fresh install - BSODs continued.

Used AMD Uninstall Utility to remove the current driver, downloaded and installed following driver from Dell website:

AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650/5470/4200/550v Graphics Driver
R272410.exe | Video|Release date 29 Jun 2010

BSODs still continue

Not sure what to do now; other drivers are available on the DELL page Product Support | Dell UK but out of those I reckon only the AMD one is appropriate. Not sure about the Intel HD Graphics Media Accelerator Driver.

I would like to try an older driver, but they're not available on the DELL website.

I'm attaching the DM Log.

Please tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, and let me know what to do next.

Many thanks in advance.

Never rely on the display drivers from Dell, they are outdated and OEMs don't tend to provide driver updates for old systems. Install the generic AMD drivers. Try the latest 15.3 beta driver if the stable build doesn't fix the BSODs.

The Windows installation is also missing almost 5 years of critical updates including SP1 that addresses a lot of known issues, you should ensure that all required updates are installed after installing the driver update.

Thank you for your help Yowanvista.
I updated to the driver in your link, and it seemed much happier! I then started installing all the updates as I thought it was fixed, and then boom!
The graphics are now very grainy unlike before, so I think that the GPA is actually overheating and needs a reflow and reball.

I'll mark this thread as solved now.
