There's an option in the BIOS that says something along the lines of: "Enable Intel Rapid Storage Technology", which was set to Enabled and I disabled it. And yeah, the controller is is AHCI mode.

I woke up this morning and memtest had made 7 passes with 0 errors but, long story short, I then accidentally cancelled the test and it listed 7 errors. I'm currently running the test on one DIMM at a time and will let you know how that turns out.

So, while I was out today, one DIMM went through 13 passes with 0 errors. I'm now testing the second DIMM which has gone through 3 passes and has yet to run into any errors. I may stop the test before long and then run it over night and see if something comes up by in the morning. Is there any way that the test this morning, which after being stopped showed 7 errors, could have been false? Can't it take sometimes an entire day for RAM to come up with errors?

I have no problem replacing RAM, as I've been using the same RAM for about 4 years now. What happens if both sticks come back without error after 8-10 passes each?

You are just trying now to determine if it is a bad Motherboard or bad Ram. Granted, it is most likely the ram, but I had an MSI board once that would run a single stick in any Dimm Slot without error, but it would not run 2 at the same time. I must have run memtest 25 times at about 20 hours each, trying to figure it out. So, I understand how frustrating it can be. You can buy new ram and take a chance if you want, as long as you understand it is a gamble.

Gotcha, yeah I was contemplating the possibility of the mobo slots being the issue as well. It's certainly worth thoroughly testing the RAM to me, so I won't go jump out and buy RAM just yet. I'll keep you posted with updates. If I wake up in the morning and there arn't any issues on the second stick, i'll do a final test with both sticks and see if I get errors again.

Anyway to further diagnose the slots? Any ideas?
