At times my Win7 Ultimate 64 bit version will freeze when I right click the desktop or when closing a browser.

I don't even get the "Exlorer.exe has quit responding" error, it just freezes and does nothing. I performed 3 clean installs and had the same problem every time. I'm running fewer programs than I had installed with the RC and I never had this problem with the RC.
What is doing the freezing - "Internet Explorer" (iexplore.exe) or "Windows Explorer" (explorer.exe)?

If it's the former, try going through the following tutorial to deactivate some of the add-ons and hence hopefully restore normal IE functionality:

    Internet Explorer - Reset

If it's Windows Explorer, you might want to collect a memory dump of the hung process as per the following procedure:

Analysis of the dump would probably reveal the cause of the hang.

It was explorer, not IE, although sometimes it would occasionally happen while using it. I believe I've found the problem in my case, and it was Kaspersky. I uninstalled it, and installed AVG Free edition, and have gone about 14 hours without issue. My longest span without a problem with Kaspersky was about 15 minutes.

Although I'm happy that my Windows seems to be running smoothly now, I've very infuriated by the fact that I can't use Kaspersky. I still have 140 days left on my subscription, and find it wholly unacceptable that it doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 7 64. I do have a little consolation in that I have Kaspersky running on two other computers, but selfishly the one I care about the most is my personal computer.

Did they (Mr. Kaspersky & Co.) market the product as being Win7 compatible? If so, have you tried asking them for support?

Yes, and yes. Their live chat is unavailable for the weekend, but I sent e-mail and am awaiting reply.
