Frequent Unexpected Shutdowns to No Power-Same Pattern in Event Viewer

Event viewer seems to have the same patterns leading up to the shutdowns, but things I've tried from searches are ineffective. Here's the pattern, after manually restarting after a blackout shutdown.

mid-40C temps are very good, but how are you monitoring temps? Some progs monitor CPU but not MB (graphics chip). With laptops, it's most often the graphics chip that causes overheat problems.

The two events leading to the shutdown may indicate hardware failure. Is there any connection between shutdowns and moving the unit? Has it ever been dropped?

You might run the machine overnight off a linux boot disk and see if the problem occurs. If so you will have a pretty good idea it's hardware driven.

Thank you for your reply. I am monitoring the temps with Core Temp and CrystalDiskInfo. Both are pretty close; CT is a bit higher. Right now, 2 cores are 47/44.

No, it's never been dropped. No connection re: moving it. It's been on its platform for 2 days, and I've had 6-8 shutdowns yesterday and today. No access to anything linux.

Hoping the event viewer logs will be a clue.

Does Core Temp cover the graphics chip? Does it feel hot to the touch anywhere?

You can download Puppy Linux, for instance, and burn it to a CD. "Slacko" Puppy is only 160mb.

I think finding my gpu temp for the integrated card will be very difficult for the logistical reason below that I found this through a search:

Since the g card is integrated on the motherboard, there does not appear to be a built-in temperature sensor for the GPU. (This tech helper goes on to say to the writer:) However, you might be able to estimate it based on the other values. You can probably assume that it is the same temperature as the nearest sensor (within 1 or 2 degrees C). So to answer your question "Is the temp the same as the temperatures of the cores?", it depends on the geometry of the board and how far the GPU is from the CPU (since you have no obvious GPU temperature sensor).

Speccy will read GPU temps if they're available. Maybe someone else can help you with the event logs. I'm really not qualified. I'm just telling you how I would go about it.

I appreciate that very much, Paul. I did pursue the overheating angle early on and believe the fan and air can are doing the job, and readings do stay in the 40's. I watch the readings in the systray constantly. I don't think I can get a separate GPU rating with the card integrated on the MB tho. Neither of my tools show a separated reading.

In case this is helpful, I forgot to mention that I have been keeping a Toshiba usb portable hard drive connected. Also, I have an HP wireless laser printer. However, I was not using the wireless feature of that printer before the HD + clean Win7 reinstall last September, and I had shutdowns then too (which I expected the reinstall to cure but it did not).
