Please disconnect one cable from your D drive. If it won't boot, run startup repair on the C disk. Startup Repair You may have to run it 3 times with attempted reboots in between each time. I can't see any reason it won't boot without the D drive connected. It really shouldn't be marked active, but that won't stop it from booting.

I have asked for some help reading your CBS files.

Video drivers are different than Motherboard drivers. So, for Motherboard drivers, go to your motherboard's web site, make sure this is your board Motherboards | P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT | ASUS Global, click on support and then Drivers and Tools. Select your OS, Windows 64 Bit in your case, click on Chipset and download the first one (Intel Chipset Driver V9.3.0.1021) and the second one (Intel Management Engine Version 8.1.0.1263), Click Audio and download Realtek Audio Driver Version 5.10.0.6699&6.0.1.66, click on LAN and download the first one Version 17.3.0.0, click on USB and download the first and third one. The first one is Intel USB driver, the third one is ASMedia USB), click on sata and download the one that says Asmedia SATA Controller Driver V1.3.4.0 for Windows XP/7/8 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL). Let's just go with that for right now.

Before you download them right click on your Desktop and create a new folder, name it whatever you want. Download all the drivers to that folder. They will all be ZIP files. Right click them and select extract and extract them to that same folder. Now you will have 2 of each driver. One will show a zip folder and the other will probably show as a File Folder. Double click the file folder and keep clicking until you see the set up folder usually named Asus Setup. Then follow the instructions. If you have one that says 'the same or a newer version is already installed' then don't install it and go to the next one. It's really pretty simple, even though it sounds complicated. The process is different with Graphics card drivers.

Go to control Panel > Catagory View, select back up computer. In the left column you will see create a restore disk. Put a blank CD in your DVD/CD drive and follow the prompts. I suspect your install disk does not have Service Pack 1, but your computer does. If that is the case, that is the reason it is telling you that.

I will probably be off for the rest of the night. I'm old and need my beauty sleep, real bad.

Simplest solution is probably to uninstall KB3022345 - and then reinstall wil the latest version from Windows Update.

I think it may be fixed! I'll mark it as solved because it hasn't happened since I uninstalled and installed the updated version of KB3022345.
Thank you both so much!
