More information is good but the log is necessary.

So is the latest installation the Clean Reinstall Windows 7 and did you follow those steps closely enough that you know you have a perfect install?

You can go over the install thoroughly using the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 if you want.

However the way to test if a restart like that is due to the OS or hard drive is to remove it and run with a boot disk for awhile to see if it replicates. If not then you know your HD and OS are good.

You can enter BIOS setup to see if there's a way to disable the hard drive temporarily. Check each tab for the HD listing, usually by its Serial or Model number. If you have not yet done so you can also test the hard drive using the maker's HD Diagnostic followed by full Disk Check or you can wait to see if it is absolved.

If you need to physically disconnect the hard drive here is how its done on that model line:

    Thanks, gregrocker!

My plan is to first do the get the Windows activation log as requested by Layback Bear, and then to perform the steps in your post. Please don't think I'm ignoring you! :)

    Couple more pieces of information.

I took the battery out and replaced it and vacuumed the bottom of the laptop (not too close) this morning.

I did un-select the recovery option to automatically restart earlier today (so it will not automatically restart) - per suggestion from the Microsoft site link mentioned in an earlier post.

Famous last words, but there have been no reboots the entire day (since 5:14pm last night, so a little over 24 hours).

I will wait to hear back on whether I should proceed with the suggestions from gregrocker.

    Thanks!

Ok - thanks. I will report back.

As of now, it's been about 37 hours since the last reboot.

It's me; I haven't forgot just needed a friend to look at the log.

    Your log look good.

I would try a reboot or a shut down/Start a couple times a day and see if it causes problems.
    Please keep us informed.

If you have a Intel CPU you could monitor your temp with Real Temp. I don't know how good it works with AMD.

    Take a read here.

    Thanks, Layback Bear.

Unfortunately I just found out the laptoop rebooted twice this morning 9 and 9:44am -- Event 41.

So I will proceed with gregrocker's suggestion (will try anyway) and post back if I need help (which is likely).

    Thanks

Is it possible Updates are queued requiring a reboot? These sometimes go awry and can also force restart.

If in doubt turn off Automatic Updates to test this.
