I was going to reseat an old gpu but never bothered.
I am pretty sure the NH-D15 will fit in my case but better to be sure!

Gav, you changed your Avitar. Keep the Noctua thermal paste. It is excellent paste. If you ever need more, try it. That is what I always use. What Boozad suggested is very good paste too.

Yeah I was just messing about, I think I'll change it back. I didn't know the Noctua came with paste pre-applied.

I don't think it does come pre applied, Gav. But a tube of their paste comes with it. But AS5 is good too.

Just had a look at the Noctua website for comparability, not looking good for me,
LGA1150 Gigabyte GA-H97M-Gaming 3 The cooler is extending over the first PCI-E x16 slot, so please use the other available PCI-E slot(s).

Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

might have to go the with other option guys?
    unless I am mistaken!
One more thing guy's, should I mark this thread as solved and open another in the relevant section?
    Thanks.

sorry, just checked, my board is GA-Z97X-GAMING3

It's up to you if you want to start another thread Nick, feel free to carry on using this one if you like. If you have no more BSODs you can mark it solved if you're happy mate.

I agree with Boozad. Whatever you want. I would wait and make sure the issue is fixed before marking it solved.

Finally got round to putting the cooler in!
at idle the cpu is at around 23/4c under load with fsx it peaked at 51c
That is around 20c cooler than the stock cooler.
    Great advise guy's.
I only managed to use one fan though, the ram stops the other one from going in.
Could i use it any where else?

Which cooler did you end up with? if it's the D15, does it have the metal clips for the fans? If so just put it there and slide the clips up so that the fan clears the ram. It will still help. But it sounds like it is doing OK without it.
