I think we should consult with the hardware experts at this point. I will give them a call.

hello, Nooblet. First the 4770K is an extremely hot CPU. It takes a very good cooler to enable it to run Prime95, but you should be able to run it longer than you ran it. Are you sure you installed the Corsair properly? Applying thermal paste is an art. If you think you have enough on, it is too much. See if this may help you.

    Hi essenbe :)

Unfortunately I have followed that video to the detail, I used the same process to apply my thermal paste (and all the same removing agents/compound itself).

Corsair CPU cooler is mounted as per the instructions, I have checked and compared with other YouTube tutorials also.

CPU has never had this problem other than with prime95 unfortunately! Computer is never hot after/during a blue screen situation too which leads be to believe maybe it is a CPU issue?

Thanks for the help thus far Arc and essenbe anyway :)

Can you take off the heat sink and then clean it again (sorry for the trouble) and put paste on it then take a pic to show us how much your using? IMO the only stuff I use on the 47xxk series is Gelid GC Extreme. It's what I get best results with. I recommend the dot method myself. Have you also tried using canary as opposed to chrome, and 64 bit versus 32? https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/canary.html

I agree with the others though that heat is your current issue, you may still have one with chrome after but this one should be fixed first. The H60 I think would benefit best from the dot method, I use this much and even that is prob too much for the block you have but should keep it good under load.

EDIT: Noticed you have not said what model paste you are using, can you tell us this please (AS5 ect.).

Lets see if I got things right.

    1. Speccy shows cpu very hot.
    2. You have double check cooler mounting, fans, and paste and found no problem.
    3. You are not over clocked.
    4. Memtest shows cpu at 45C.
    5. You are using XMP.

    -------------------------

I would stop using XMP because sometimes it will do crazy things with voltages.

Check your Vcore volts using this little program and take a look at vcore in bios. I would also check you ram volts. Let us know what they are.

In reply to rvcjew - I used the same method shown in the Newegg YouTube video. Same amount as I can see in the photo you attached. I used Arctic Silver 5 and this was applied last night after I removed the thermal compound that came pre-applied to my CPU cooler.

I am hesitant to re-apply thermal compound again because I did it just last night and can promise you I used the method shown in the Newegg video. I have checked and checked again that the CPU cooler is mounted correctly too, which it is. Maybe giving the stock CPU cooler a go is a possibility?

In reply to Layback Bear - XMP is disabled in BIOS. Not sure exactly which screenshots/images you wanted but I have included a screenshot of CPU-Z as well as some photos taken of my BIOS. I noticed Intel Turbo Boost is enabled, all my BIOS settings are on default though so not sure if that really matters.

Oops also in reply to rvcjew - I have not tried Canary and I am unsure of whether my current installation of Chrome is 32 or 64 bit but I will go and do that now. However, Chrome is not the only application that consistently causes a BSOD currently.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah canary is what i'm using now, it does update I swear like every 30 minutes though so every time you shutdown and turn your pc on its even more featured lol. Trying the stock cooler might be a good idea for testing, though it looks like from the shots that you are setting your fan curve for the rpm header of your pump and not your radiator fan. CPU2 should be the fan, CPU1 is your pump as it's in the 4500 range make sure your setting a curve for the right device. When you run a stress test does the rad fan spin up, you would be able to audibly hear it if it's trying to cope with 70+c heat?

Just tested 64 bit chrome and Canary - two respective BSODs :'(

I will double check the pump is plugged into CPU1 and CPU2 is the fan. And yeah I can audibly hear the fan spin up when beginning a stress test.
