I can't say it was your PSU. However, in my opinion it was underpowered for your system, but that does not mean it was responsible for your card dying. Is it possible, sure I would think it is a possibility. But, not likely. In most cases I am aware of, a PSU dies putting off a power surge when it takes out a component. That's just my opinion though. I really don't know if there is any way to tell for sure. But, I would get a larger PSU for a newer card. Make certain you get a top quality one. A PSU is the last thing in a computer you want to try to save money on. I always recommend Seasonic, Corsair, EVGA or Antec.

As far as the Seatools, the controller should be in IDE mode. If you will read the first sentence in the information box under Option 2, it says that. The ISO can also be burned to a CD disk and then boot from the CD. It has to be burned not copied. Any ISO burning software can do that, including the one built into Windows 7.

I'm sorry that the card is bad. I wish I could give you some explanation, but I can't. Those things do just go out sometimes.

I didn't bother buying a CD as I don't have any atm, that guide also says it can be written on a USB stick and I followed the steps exactly as he showed but it didn't work for me.

Anyway, thanks for all the help and advice, I'll make sure I get a good PSU before buying another GPU.

Yes, it can be written to a USB, with the correct software to do it. Do you have Rufus or something similar?

I'm not sure then. Did you try this one suggested in the tutorial? Win32 Disk Imager download | SourceForge.net

That didn't work either. I've tried 3-5 programs that day.

I'm not sure then. We use that test daily here and rarely have trouble if you follow the tutorial instructions. You can use the Seatools for Windows which is an installable program. SeaTools for Windows | Seagate
