Windows 7: Random BSOD's

Random BSOD's

I just put together a new computer and set it up with Windows 7 Pro. Normally, it randomly crashes throughout the day. On the other hand, I'm sometimes able to use the computer for a whole day without any crashes only to find the next morning that it's crashed sometime overnight after sitting idle for hours...

Memtest86+ ran for about 6 hours w/o any problems (9 successful passes), so I don't think the memory is to blame. Also, I'm not overclocking, so everything is setup with default settings.

I'm really grabbing at straws, but I'm guessing it's a driver issue (4890XOC - video card maybe?)...

Also, I'm running RAID1...

The BSOD messages vary widely, but here are the messages I see most often:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(the other stop codes look like they are are just hex strings)

Any help is greatly appreciated. Since I just spent a bunch of $$ on this computer, I'd like to get it stable and usable ASAP. I've attached some dump files from the last few days.

If more info would help, please let me know - thanks again!!!

First "Welcome to the Seven Forums, and thank you for posting your System Specs."
Notice your video card as been over clocked. Try turning off the over clocking to see if that will help. Not sure it will, my Geforce 8800 is OC.

Not OS "bugs." It from some software you installed that's causing this.

Indeed. A McAfee filter driver in particular:

Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\mfehidk.sys
Timestamp: Sat Aug 01 07:59:40 2009 (4A73694C)

To the OP: Try updating your McAfee AV to a version later than that date above. If there are no later versions, you may want to uninstall McAfee for testing purposes. It's directly implicated in ~50% of your crashes, and perhaps the other (more nebulous) 50% will also go away once that driver is gone.

If removing McAfee doesn't resolve all crashes, just upload more minidumps as they become available. Otherwise, if all BSODs stop once McAfee is gone, you might want to consider sending these same minidumps to McAfee support in order for them to try to diagnose the problem(s) in their driver(s).

Everyone - thanks for your responses... I've lowered the speeds on the 4890 XOC video card to the stock speeds of a 4890 card - so far so good. If I get another crash, my next step will be to address the McAfee issues. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!!!

Hi and welcome to sevenforums

I took a quick look at the last two dumps and they were almost identical. I believe the crash was caused by by your jraid.sys (raid driver) It is almost two years old and should be updated

I would update the BIOS,raid, video, etc.
I would also run a system file check to verify and fix your system files.
to run sfc you type cmd in search>right click and run as admin> SFC /SCANNOW

let us know the rewsults

these are the oldest drivers
