Random BSOD's while gaming, watching videos, or idle

    Hello,

My Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7012 running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit has been having random black screen crashes that require a hard reset. It happens completely out of nowhere and has occurred while gaming, watching movies, or when the laptop is just left idle. I have done a complete manufacture reinstall of windows and it worked fine for a while, but has started occurring again and I would prefer to find a permanent solution rather than just lose all my data again for a temporary fix.

    Thank you,
    Josh

Hello and welcome Josh sorry you have had to wait so long. Mate in the dump files there is an issue with a Windows update hence the machine working ok after the install - until the culprit is installed again. Finding it is another thing but what I usually do is system restore and wait for the failure and then look at the latest batch of updates were and try to winkle it out.
There is also a reference to MBAM too and I am at a loss as to why that is mentioned and this seems to be the theme in this old thread Arc is great at this stuff Windows 7 Random bsod caused by tcpip.sys .

    Thank you for the reply,

So I just tested three other hard drives on the laptop (one windows 7 one windows 8 and one windows xp [all of which work perfectly]) and with all of them I got the black screen requiring a hard reset. Also it seems that the laptop can function perfectly fine just running off of battery, and not charging it, the problem being I can't really test this fully because my battery starts to die (after about 2 hours) so I have to plug it back in, and the crashes are entirely random so it just might not have enough time to crash. Which I don't quite understand because I have the power options set exactly the same. And at first I thought it had something to do with malwarebytes so I had completely uninstalled it and used the recommended cleaner to completely remove all of malwarebytes, but it still crashes.

Anything else I might be able to do?
    Josh

Josh this smacks of something quite wrong with either the power adaptor (check the volts mate with a digital meter or that internal charging system is failing.
