I'm afraid not, no. I do not have an installation disc of Windows 7. I mean, I have 3 hard drives connected to my computer right now. If you're asking if I have a fourth hard drive just sitting around unconnected, I'm afraid not. Do you think doing a reinstall is really my best/only bet? And I'm sorry, I'm guessing that second post was just a misclick? Did you want me to upload the DM logs again?

Try something for me. You have 2 LAN ports on the back panel. unplug your Ethernet cable from the Intel port and plug into the Atheros port. See if that makes a difference. Also, did you set your BIOS to defaults?

Doesn't seem to have made a difference, but I appreciate the suggestion! If I could offer a couple guesses/intuitions as to possible related issues: 1) a while back I attempted to separate my Windows libraries from my Windows...drive, if that makes sense? Like I put all the "My . . ." folders (My Documents, My Music, etc.) on my E Drive, but my Windows folder remains on my SSD C drive (for the faster boot times, I was thinking). I don't really recall how I did it or if it's caused any issues, but I know my folder hierarchy looks pretty weird now and that I was a bit out of my league when I was trying to learn how to do it. 2) I also a while back attempted to "tweak" the settings (...in the registry, I think? ) by decreasing the time Windows spends before doing a "forced shutdown" (e.g. closing all the open programs and then shutting down). Now, every time I try to shut down, that weird "Waiting for background programs to close" quasi-window appears asking me if I want to force shut down, even if there aren't any programs open for it to force shut down about. I kinda doubt either of these are related to the ultimate issue of being able to shut down, but I just thought I'd throw them out there on the off-chance they are.

I take it you did not do a clean install when the build was first built.

Moving user folders is simple and easy. User Folders - Change Default Location

If you edited the registry having to do with Windows Shutdown and now it won't shut down right, why would you think that has nothing to do with your problem?

Well, my understanding was that it didn't affect the Windows shutdown timing really. It just decreased the amount of time that Windows would wait before it automatically closed running programs. I don't/didn't see how that would force Windows to automatically restart sometimes intermittently and sometimes chronically. And no, I probably didn't do a clean install the first time, although it was several years ago and I had a more computer-savvy friend helping me, so it's possible. I'm guessing there's no easy way to restore registry settings to default? If I found the guide/setting I tried to tweak, would that be helpful?

Any time you change Motherboards, a clean install is advised and many times necessary. If you installed the new motherboard drivers for the Gigabyte board, you now have 2 sets of motherboard drivers in your OS.

Your last clean install was before the date your Motherboard was released.

It is an OEM so I suspect that is why you didn't do a clean install

I see... so, how do I do a clean install of the motherboard drivers? I assumed that when I downloaded and installed the more recent ones that it would automatically uninstall the older ones (as that's how most drivers work, right?) The diagnostic information you requested should be below.
