BSOD playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive

It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes when I am playing, my computer will randomly start struggling to play the game. It has happened maybe 6 times but my computer recovers without getting a BSOD and I can play normally for the rest of the day. Today, it wasn't able to recover and I got a BSOD from it. I am not sure how to describe the exact happenings when my computer starts "struggling" but that is the best word for it.

looks like an issue with your graphics card, this one's a hardware issue, so just to be sure try a friend's card and see what happens then.

it's worth a go, but i'm pretty confident it's the card, not the software
