BSOD occurs occasionally and drivers wont load.

    Yeah okay just thought that maybe you should still check the BIOS. Just leaving the BIOS at default might not mean it is the optimal settings.

    What partion do i install the os to?

    Im thinking of partion 2 and then going to format it for a clean install.

    Install it on Partition 2, remember to do a clean install and remove everything that is on the partition.
    If you won't you get trouble due to the free space as it is not enough.

    Havent seen this screen on this computer in a log while! Thanks for the help everyone and im back to route one and going to be much more carefull when downloading software. Any advice on staying away from viruses and any anti virus programs which dont take up alot of cpu process?

    Yes that is normal for a first time.
    There are many updates you need to install, it'll take some time to search, download and install.

    Alright, going to mark this as solved! Every single person who contributed I thank you for your help and advice and I have a working system now. I've learnt alot about windows and bsods and things that I would have never learnt if I didn't come to this forum. Thank you all!

    Haven't read the whole thread but if you want to steer clear of the 10 crap that is being thrown at us and you have in all probability installed it - KB3035533 and if you do not want the 10 upgrade then disable it using this
    Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums use the disable reg download.

    To get rid of the 10 upgrade reminder icon on the taskbar just hide everything in the Notification area for it.

    I have clean installed all my machines now and when doing the updates have checked through them looking for that KB and hidden it.
