    BSOD 0xF4_IOERR WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT

Built (and rebuilt) a new computer and installed WIN7 Home Premium x64. It was stable for a few days during the software install phase. But it started doing the BSOD (again). Strangely enough, it does this mainly when it's idle. The windbg shows WIN7_DRIVER_FAULT. To that end I've updated the drivers that I know about. No luck there or anywhere else for that matter. I've scratched my head for a good couple of weeks on this and do not seem to be making progress. I've run and re-run diags on both memory and hard drive -- no errors showing there either. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. The requisite minidump and diagnostic files are attached. Basically it shows:

    PROCESS_OBJECT: fffffa800971db10

    IMAGE_NAME: wininit.exe

    DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 0

Run Disk Check on your Hard Drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it.

     Hard Drive Diagnostics

    • Double click and open my computer.
    • Right click on desired drive and hit properties.
    • Click on tools tab and Check now.

I have run both the chkdsk and SeaTools diagnostics. All look good. I do note that I did open the case and re-seat all the memory and SATA cables. Since then I've not seen the BSOD reappear - big smile! I'm hoping that this was all that there was to it. But...we shall see.

Thank you KoolKat77 for the reply. I'll post results again in a few days if the BSOD has been solved -- or sooner if the hunt continues.

I am happy to report that the system is still running well without exhibiting the BSOD. In this case it would appear that just re-seating the memory and SATA cables was the solution. Looking back I probably should have tried that earlier but since I had just put it together ...I really didn't expect this to be the cause. Lesson learned: Go for the simple first!
