Ok done some digging and some suggestions make sense to me so first up I reckon this might be the go

    MEMTEST

The memtest you will need to make a bootable disk / stick andset the BIOS to boot from the optical or USB and it will take a fair time torun- some leave it overnight. http://www.memtest.org/

But one thing is very important you must let the test run for at least 8 passes any less and thefindings are no good. Now if errors come up straight away then you can stop it- see my pics. Now if there are errors and you have more than one stick of RAMin then you will need to test each stick ie remove the sticks and replace stick1 in slot 1 and test - no errors do the same in slot 2 with stick 1 - no errorsthen repeat the process with stick 2 - that will show up the faulty stick - theother thing is it could be a faulty slot but most unusual.

It is a very lengthy and tedious process but worth it if youhave errors.

Bit AP mate I must again stress that the 8 passes is essential and any other number (less) than 8 passes is a futile exercise. Plus this is really an overnight job as it is lengthy but if the errors come up quick then you can stop the test.

NB the error screen note that it is an example because it is an older version referenced to in that screenshot.

No worries, which version should I download? Also, am I still able to use my PC while this test is running?

Oh sorry I should have specified. I was referring to the memtest; which one of these would you download or doesn't it really matter (sorry I just want to make sure I do it correctly):

    Download (Pre-built & ISOs) =-
Here is some pre-compiled distributions of memtest86+. Memtest86+ comes in three different way, first is a pre-build bootable ISO, second is a bootable binary and third an installable package for creating a bootable floppy. Third version are compressed in .zip and .tar.gz.
    ** Memtest86+ V5.01 (27/09/2013)**

Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)

Download - Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7) *NEW!*
Top one for a CD, Bottom one for a Flash drive.

    RAM - Test with Memtest86+
