    Yeah, about the SSD, after completing that test I re-read that post and saw that it said it was pointless to test it using that tool. Testing that only took a couple of minutes so it's all good.

    Thanks for the help, people. I guess it's time to replace the HDD ASAP as that has all the important things on it. I've been getting this BSOD for about a year now... it started out like once a month. Now it's almost daily.

    EDIT: Would it even be worth trying the long generic test again on the HDD?

    EDIT 2: Decided to do the long generic test again and it is currently at 70% with no fail still. Not sure what to think at this point.

    Yep well thing to keep in mind Creeper is this mate Imaging with free Macrium do it on a regular basis as I do and at least your data is kept up to date.

    I am going to leave ths thread now because there is some conflict re what is going on and I ma not going to gte caught up in anything like that - sorry.

    Conflict? I'm a little lost on what you mean...

    It can't be the HDD, right? I'm really not sure.

    Hey guys, just an update.

    I got my first BSOD today since the last one I reported in this thread two or so weeks ago. I checked the minidump folder and there was nothing in it. I was just browsing using Chrome, and Chrome crashed and then my start bar disappeared and my PC locked up for a few seconds and then it went to a BSOD and froze on that screen and the PC did not restart until I pressed the button on the machine.

    Honestly don't know where to go here with this $3000+ machine. Absolutely gutted.

    Please uninstall Google Chrome as a test while troubleshooting, it 'still' causes crashes for some people.

    Would Firefox be a better choice? I'll use that and uninstall Chrome and play the waiting game for another BSOD. Would Chrome cause a BSOD even when not in use? Like, playing a game through Steam for one... and not using Chrome at that time. I've gotten a few in the past when gaming and just gaming - nothing else.

    If a setting in Google Chrome is enabled for being active in the background even when the browser is closed it could, but I still don't know how Google Chrome could cause so much different crashes.

    No matter what, I can be doing anything... listening to iTunes, gaming through Steam, browsing through Chrome, watching a movie through VLC or leaving the computer idle for 8 hours and I'd come back to a BSOD.

    Please run the tool again and upload the zip file.

    The description you give could have a lot of causes like drivers, hardware, background processes etc.
