BSOD when trying to game (but inconsistent) STOP: 0x00000116

This is a pretty inconsistent BSOD. I get it sometimes when I start a game, but starting the game may also just cause a 'freeze' (Mouse stops goes really slow, can't close programs, that kind of fun). But the BSOD also occurs (but not always) when I launch SpeedFan. And 1 time it also happened while I was using Matlab for school...

This is the 'Technical information' I get from the BSOD:

*** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA80108D4010, 0xFFFFF88004E72008, 0xFFFFFFFFC000009A, 0x0000000000000004)

*** nvkflt.sys - Address FFFFF88004E72008 base at FFFFF88004E5D000, Datestamp 55c3e96d

Collecting data for crash dump ...
Initializing disk for crash dump ...
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Dumping physical memory to disk: 45

And these are the specs of my laptop:

Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad W520 (2011)
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-2820QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
GPU: Nvidia Quadro 2000M
RAM: 16.0 GB
Motherboard: Intel QM67 Express (I guess this is the motherboard? Correct me if I'm wrong!)

I also see at the Device manager screen a sign at the NVIDIA Quadro 2000M. It says the following:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
Driver Provider: NVIDIA
Driver version: 10.18.13.5382
Driver date: 7-8-2015

I went to the IT desk here at the university, but the guy was in quite a hurry and said: I'll try 'Roll Back Driver', but that didn't do anything.. I still get the BSOD.

Can you guys help me out?

P.S. The game I mentioned earlier was Kerbal Space Program
and -> I included a photo of the BSOD in an attachment

Hi Dutchmen,

Welcome to the 7forums.

The 0x116 crash and the mentioned driver from the picture are related to the display drivers.

Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your manufacturer.

Likely the drivers are out of date or corrupted, corruption explains the error code in device manager.

Hi axe0,

Thanks for the fast reply! Just to be sure, the drivers I need to download (after uninstalling everything of Nvidia) are these?

If you have a laptop, as you stated in your description, then you need to download the drivers from your manufacturer

If you have a desktop, as you say in your specs, then you likely indeed need the drivers from the link you posted.

When you have removed the drivers and installed them again, please use the tool for the system specs again.
The system specs are not 100% correct, but will have to do.

I've removed the drivers and installed them again. Also used the system specs tool again. I'll go use the triggers that caused the BSOD now, will keep you updated!

Okay, it happened again. Still the 0x00000116, but the codes after that are a little different from the first one:

*** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA801177A4E0, 0xFFFFF88004972704, 0xFFFFFFFFC000009A, 0x0000000000000004)

*** nvkflt.sys - Adress FFFFF88004972704 base at FFFFF88004941000, Datestamp 526edaf7

First one:

*** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA80108D4010, 0xFFFFF88004E72008, 0xFFFFFFFFC000009A, 0x0000000000000004)

*** nvkflt.sys - Address FFFFF88004E72008 base at FFFFF88004E5D000, Datestamp 55c3e96d

I found this DM log collector on this site, it may provide some more information for you:
