BSOD During mundane tasks, and just after bootup

I have been having random BSODs, some related to something referred to as asmtxhci.sys and some other different ones. I am good with building PCs, but the software issues and BSOD's and such escape me. I really want to learn to fix these things, so i was wondering if i could get your help ill appreciate it. Im really trying to learn, so please tell me anything you need and ill be happy to provide it.

Hi Tweediculous,

Welcome to the 7forums.

Please read BSOD Posting Instructions & How to upload files

A quick tip, the driver you mention is a driver for the USB.
To start, check ASMedia for driver updates.

Please remove items from the startup
How to remove items from startup - Windows 7 Help Forums
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot speed.

warning   Warning
Programs that claim to update your drivers install either the wrong or corrupted drivers.
If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.

Please remove Advanced SystemCare 8, it is known for causing BSOD's.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.
  1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
  2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
    • Double click the executable to open it
    • Click on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

The cause is Bitdefender Active Virus Control Kernel Filtering driver and ASMedia USB 3.0 driver.
Please uninstall Bitdefender and check ASMedi for driver updates.
Bitdefender is likely not stable enough as the 2016 version is released a short while back.

Bitdefender is a good one, you might just need to reinstall it if the 2016 version is from an upgrade

Which mundane PC question do you hate the most?
Every single day, these "Which is better/what do you use etc" type of questions are asked ad nauseum all over the internet. PC vs Intel, PC Vs MAC, Which A/V, Which Browser et al. Sometimes these questions are borne of ignorance. Other times they are 'confirming/comforting' questions...

BSOD During Various Tasks
About 2-3 weeks ago I started suddenly getting random, frequent restarts. After some trial and error (including reinstalling Windows 7) and a little research, I determined the most likely (and cheapest to repair) cause was the PSU (which was only 600W). So I replaced it with an 850W and the...
