Is Avast uninstalled?

Do you know how old your laptop is? I can't find drivers for Windows 7.

i use AVG... i do not use avast.. It is a 2012 perhaps, a mid 2012 laptop.. i bought it around christmas 2012 through a friend in US.. i think that is a good enough complication..
New development is that battery icon does always keeps showing 100% charge.. and suddenly goes to hibernate..
then i get a battery alert during every startup.. Not sure if microsoft patches installed last night are causing this new issue

Just in case it might help you this was a refurbished system

Sorry, Avast, always get confused with AVG and Avast but don't know why

If the laptop is later then 2009, there would be Windows 7 drivers available.

Yes, uninstall Avg and install MSE
Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

Exactly as you said in the OP, the athrx driver. But it might help if you remove this driver and let Windows install it.

just this evening, an update was installed, which contained athrx.. and then i closed the laptop lid and another BSOD

By remove shall i uninstall athrx from device manager and then remove .sys or .exe file from win32 directory??
Do you think any other drivers need update too

Only remove it from device manager and let Windows do the rest.
