Yes, that is fine.
They are the most compatible with Windows and I sometimes forget to mention to use them as alternative

Hahhha Even i did not know about them... Looks like MS claims that with those two things we don't need any antivirus
Hope they really mean it.

Basically they are all you need, but Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) and Anti-Exploit (MBAE) are also an excellent protection layer to add for some, I use them 24/7.

Most important is that you always keep doing the basics stuff with protection,
  • watch what you do,
  • don't visit to unknown or untrusted sites
  • don't open links from e-mail directly, but copy/paste them
  • make regular backups in case something goes wrong
  • etc etc etc
I don't use Windows protection, but I can say that with Windows protection, Malwarebytes and a good conscience that is aware of the basics it should be all fine.
I'm adding Malwarebytes, because it is the best anti-malware and anti-exploit. The anti-malware is focused on the new malware that hasn't been detected yet by others, Windows has plenty of time to identify the unknown threats. The anti-exploit is an excellent program that protects the programs.
Shortly, MBAM protects against the 'what' where MBAE protects against the 'how'
