    Freeze at user logon prompt


    basically it just freezes (making a very weird and annoying -track-stuck- sound with the logon music) at the user logon screen. anyone had this problem?

    did you upgrade or clean install?
    did you download of purchase from MS?
    32 bit or 64?

    thanks for your concern, ken. I'll try to fill in a little bit.

    clean install
    download
    32bit

    also, I was on the process of installing all the built in hardware of my motherboard.
    just so that you don't bother checking my profile to see which one it is, I'll tell you right now:

    Asus A7N8X-X, wich has a nForce2 chipset.
    I think (but I'm not definitively sure) that the audio device is causing all the trouble.
    what are your thought on this?
