BSOD error 0x00000050

Hello

I am hoping someone can help with this BSOD.

I run an Acer Aspire 5920 with genuine Windows 7 that came with the laptop in 2009 (don't laugh please).

Over the past week I am getting regular BSOD's, as I do not normally shut down my laptop it's when I open the lid to start that these BSOD's happen, the only thing that has changed is I deleted hundreds of Gigabytes
of downloads last week, roughly when all this started, hopefully the attached file will help.

Thanks in advance

Adrian

Welcome SF halfman

Some file are missing from the zip generated by the collector, but I was able to see a clear
pattern in some of the readable dump files.
The main culprit appears to be a driver named fp.sys, I was unable to find its origin
so it is most likely a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program), that and AVG consistently
appeared in the dumps.

Please upload the MSINFO32 file:

Start → Run → type MSINFO32 then hit Enter.
In MSINFO32 go to, File → Save → name it your user-name.
Once the file is saved right click it and choose Send toCompressed (zipped) folder.

Attach the file in your next post.

Please scan for possible infection and file corruption, perform the scans in the order they appear in.
  • Download TDSS-Killer and scan for rootkits. Please upload the TDSSKILLER log which will be located in the C:\ partition once you boot back in normal mode.
  • Download AdwCleaner, it might ask you to download an updated version, do so. launch the program and click the Scan button, once it's finished go through the Folders tab and Files tab and see if it has detected any personally important files that you want to keep for now will deal with those later. Please upload the log file which will be created after removal procedure in a folder C:\AdwCleaner, if you are unable to find the log file simply launch AdwCleaner again and click the Report button.
  • Download Malwarebytes and DON'T activate the trail (uncheck the box at the end of the installation)
  • Follow this tutorial on how to use the SFC/ SCANNOW tool in Windows. See OPTION THREE in-order to upload the CBS log file.

Hi YoYo155

Kaspersky came up clean as did ADWcleaner. I will now run the SFC/ SCANNOW and see what happens.

Should I delete the fp.sys file.

I have deleted AVG as well.

SFC/ SCANNOW found errors and repaired them but I cannot open the log for some reason.

I see, thank you for the update.

As for fp.sys, please navigate and change the extension of fp.sys to .bak
doing so will essentially dissable it and keep the file in case something "breaks".

ie.

-- Before:
Code:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\fp.sys
-- After:
Code:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\fp.bak
