    Asus Power Surge


    Hi there, Sarah is using win 7 64 bit, Asus motherboard reports power surge and shut down the computer from nowhere. Happened 3 times yesterday and 3 times today. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    There is no evidence for a BSOD. I recommend powering computer from a different wall socket, and seeing if the same issue occurs. If it does, open the computer BIOS and report the temperatures displayed therein.

    thank you Golden, appreciate the help. Its very frustrating watching Sarah's computer shut down 3 times in an hour due to this very reason and can't do anything about it. What I've done is ordered a new power supply with a higher watt ( 1000w to 1200w) and hopefully it could resolve the issue. Sarah uses a small space heater. I told her to move the heater away from the tower as far as possible. From what I researched is that this is a ASUS motherboard protection feature and I suspect overheating issue. Will follow up and let you know.
