seven lock-up when donwloading torrents hi guys, i am having a problem here...
every time i try to download a torrent, windows get VERY slow, until it stops completely and i need to hard reset the PC, strangely enough, this only happens with torrents, other download go fine... still didn't tried other P2P programs like emule or such
the log of azureus stop right after a cyclic redundancy check, and all the others torrent program (like uTorrent or Bitspirit) stoped right after the CRC check...
i thought about being the Hdd, but everyother type of download and instalation of programs goes fine...
can you guys help me out?
thanks in advance | My System Specs |

Look to see if there's an update to the network driver. Install if so.
From an elevated command prompt, type chdsk /r X:
Change X to the drive or partition letter that you are saving torrents to.
Allow the necessary tcp and udp ports in your router to be forwarded to your machine, matching what the torrent client is using. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

This is common with Win 7 and torrents. It is highly suggested that you set up a virtual machine and use something like Vista or XP on torrent sites. This also will help keep virus and other nasties from getting into you main OS, and ensure you have an anti virus program loaded and running. Not sure why this happens, and it doesn't always it just with some systems. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion a4302f OS Win 7 Pro x64, VM Win XP, Win7 Pro Sandbox, Kubuntu 11 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3.0 Gbz Memory 12GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB, 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 HD Graphics/Audio with 512MB Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 1. thanks guys, i already have a anti-virus and have the ports opened, but if this is a Windows 7 problem, i think i will just use the other PC i have here with XP and wait for a fix for 7
thanks again, i was really worried about this, i just got my pc one week ago and thought that perhaps it came with a problematic Hdd X_X
i will see if i can find newer network drivers too...
and the windows didn't recgonized the command chdsk /r | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Eternity (Ver. 6.1.7600) CPU Athlon 64 x2 dual core 6000+ 3.00GHz Motherboard Asus M2N-SLI Memory 3Gb dd3 Graphics Card GeForce 8600 GT 256mb Sound Card on-board Monitor(s) Displays Sansung syncmaster 550z Screen Resolution 1024x780 Hard Drives 160gb SATA Hdd Internet Speed 1mb Other Info Nvidia Nforce Network Controller |

Sorry about that. It's chkdsk instead.
Windows 7 doesn't have any problems with torrenting. It's most likely a driver issue for you. So ya, update that. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

it's strange, sundelly, when chkdsk get to a cluster it stops and use all the memory on the PC, and stays like that... he didn't crashed, nor had locked-up the PC.
is this normal? it stopped 3 times on the same cluster... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Eternity (Ver. 6.1.7600) CPU Athlon 64 x2 dual core 6000+ 3.00GHz Motherboard Asus M2N-SLI Memory 3Gb dd3 Graphics Card GeForce 8600 GT 256mb Sound Card on-board Monitor(s) Displays Sansung syncmaster 550z Screen Resolution 1024x780 Hard Drives 160gb SATA Hdd Internet Speed 1mb Other Info Nvidia Nforce Network Controller |

Utorrent crashing or seeming to cause crashes has to do with the NIC driver being used. This has been an ongoing problem with bad NIC drivers and Windows 7. The NIC gets loaded to near capacity with Utorrent and shuts down the internet or crashes the system.
About all you can do is keep looking around for updated NIC drivers for your system. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |
