acer x3200 windows 7 update bsod

Hi guys, I was trying to reinstall windows 7 onto a desktop.
It installed fine, I never activated it and chose to skip activation at the time.
I installed MSE on it, took a while but it finally istalled with the latest software.
I went to update windows and it was just checking for updates so i left it over night.
Came down to it this morning and it had blue screen of death.
I never got the code, but I seem to think it said something about graphics??
anyway I turned it off then back on, now absolutely nothing, just a black screen I am unable to get to the bios or safe mode, nothing.
IT is turned on and everything seems to be working, fan dvd drive etc just nothing on the screen.
I have removed the hdd and tried it then, just the same though.
Not sure whether it is time for the bin with it! just thought I would ask the question here before I do!
    Many thanks for reading.

    Hi nick,

you wouldn't have a secondary display lying around anywhere nearby, I'm just thinking that you did say that you thought it was something to do with graphics.?

I have reset the cmos, I can now enter the bios.
Just seeing if it will repair or a new install is req!
    Many thanks.
