BSOD When PC idle atikmdag.sys and ntoskrnl.exe

    Hi,

I have been getting BSOD only on idle for weeks now and it is driving me crazy. I have tried re installing the drivers for audio and graphics and any other suggestion I could find. Also I have re installed the OS. I am OC to 4.0GHZ but have also tried on stock 3.2GHZ and get the same issues.

This new atikmdag.sys I have not seen before but previously it was saying driver dxgmms or something similar. This crash dmp has now been deleted off my pc for some reason so I cant double check.

Any advice would be great as it is useless for what I want it to do if it wont stay on.

    Thanks in advance !

Hello Jonesyg and welcome to Sevenforums! :)

Please revert to base clock while we perform the troubleshooting!

Your BSOD was probably caused by : atikmdag.sys which is part of AMD graphics card, and dxgmms or similar would point to DirectX, and I would recommend that you use Revo Uninstaller and remove everything from AMD. After that visit AMD:
    Download Drivers

And download the appropriate drivers for your system and save it to the desktop, reboot and install. And report back!

    Cheers, Boris :)

    Hi Boris,

I deleted the drivers for the graphics card and found a Crimson hotfix for windows 7 from AMD. I installed that yesterday and it didn't crash overnight ! So far so good ! Ill keep this updated for other users with the same issue. But for now (Touch wood) it looks promising .

I still have high latency on dxgkrnl.sys and ataport.sys but I am guessing these issues shouldn't be addressed here.

    Cheers !

Ah nice to hear this fixed your issue :)

And ataport.sys is for storage, dxgkrnl.sys is DirectX related.

Also I saw a bunch of drivers here that you might wanna try out:

PS det heter knock on wood på engelska, går inte riktigt att översätta ord för ord från sv till en..
