BSOD caused by windows update

Now Sam I think any driver find software is like the Windows feature pretty useless - having said that I have used Slim Drivers on occasions but ONLY when it hooks me to a manufacturers site ie Intel.

But I think Derek is right get rid of that other one you have download anything from Asus direct it is after all their make of board.

Now be careful with using RAM slots as they are assigned to designated channels ie 1&3 2&4 - 1&3 usually being what the maker sets up as the first to be used - they usually stipulate this in the users manual. The slots are usually counted going away from the CPU socket see this article if you have time it will tell you exactly how things are set up.

Hey ICIT2LOL

I had my 8GB stick of ram in the second ram slot so I think that was causing some problems. I wish I had read this article you linked a year ago! I remember buying two 8GB ram sticks and I put them in slots 1&2 and my computer had constant blue screens. I took one out the 2 second slot and I left it back home (over 400 miles away) and replaced the first slot of ram into the second slot, oops.

I'll use slim drivers again if I need to. Anyway if I encounter any more problems I'll be sure to make another post, you've been very helpful.

Despite what others might say, there is really no need to use any of those programs.

If you can't find one, come back here we'll find it.

Yep it's ok mate but as I think I mentioned I only use drivers it finds that are linked to genuine sites ie Intel - never mirror sites and as a matter of course always uninstall it after use.

Just one thing without looking back if you use that software be sure to have unchecky installed to stop anything else downloading with it https://unchecky.com/ < that goes for any downloads you do ie Adobe for example tries to get you to load stuff you don't need.

But in a nutshell Derek is right it is the best thing to go to a dedicated manufacturers site the Slim Drivers is really a last resort for me when I cannot find what I want.
