Updating the BIOS will always take risk with it, if there are any problems your mainboard will be bricked if there is no backup.
Normally everything goes fine so nothing to worry, but a backup is recommended.

Now here is the BIOS update you need - I am not sure if your board does the flash method but in any case I would be careful https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5...Desk_Download/
As axe has said mate because this is an older board it doesn't have the back up or failsafe features that some of the newer boards do - I stand to be corrected of course.if there are any problems your mainboard will be bricked if there is no backup
Edit Youcan find updating the BIOS here https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5...lpDesk_Manual/ starting at the pages marked in the pic and I see it has an EZ flash method too.
@icit2lol: what are you trying to say? Earlier I mentioned the first option "1. asus update". Do you recommend this?
Look I thought that as you mentioned getting into the BIOS stuff that the manual stuff would be helpful.
Anyway I will leave this one to the other s now as I cannot think of what else to do - just follow the others.
