    what's new? Windows 7 crashing

Hi guys, I have a new windows 7 installation that has been crashing regularly. I posted a dump files to the forum but I did it in the wrong place. Please have a look at my info and let me know what the problem could be. I'm new at debugging winodws so perhaps my info is not the most appropriate. please let me know what should I do better. Just in case I posted the newest dump file.

generally the crushes happen when i leave the computer for an hour or so. I come back and I see the computer has rebooted.

    Hey.

You're getting a 0x24 stop error so you could try to run this from an elevated command prompt for every partition on the system. Change X to match the partition letter -

    chkdsk /r X:

In addition, you have the following older drivers on the system. Look into updates for them if possible, or remove them from the system either permanently or as a test:

    secdrv secdrv.SYS Wed Sep 13 09:18:38 2006
    AsIO AsIO.sys Mon Dec 17 04:11:49 2007
    lvpopf64 lvpopf64.sys Fri May 11 19:56:21 2007
    RtNdPt60 RtNdPt60.sys Mon Dec 10 21:49:52 2007
    lvuvc64 lvuvc64.sys Fri May 11 19:59:12 2007
    LVUSBS64 LVUSBS64.sys Fri May 11 20:01:20 2007

    Hi am and welomce

This dump had two proximate causes. Memory and the ntfs.sys file

    I would
Run a system file checker to verify and repair system files.
To run type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>
    SFC /SCANNOW

Let us know the result at the end of the SFC.

Then I would download and run memtestx86 for several hours

Hope this helps and if you get any more BSOD's upload the dumps so we can narrow it down

    Thanks

Hi guys, I did run scan disk and returned no issues. However, I'd like to know if the crashes are cause by the same drivers or hardware. I'm attaching another dump file. Please have a look and hopefully I can do something else to fix my computer. thanks.

All those drivers I mentioned are still in the system. I'd get rid of them, if only temporarily, to see if it fixes things.

Use the device manager while set to view | show hidden devices
if you need to. While uninstalling in there, check the box to delete the driver too.

Google about them to find out what they are.

Thanks for all your help guys. After following all suggestions and no luck at all, I decided to call OCZ tech support asking the compatibility between my mobo & memory. Sure enough, the memory is not compatible with my mobo at all. Probably some genius made it work but I decided to change memory to mushkin 2x2 GB Black line 996652 kit running at 7-7-7-20 @1.8V everything is finally working fine.

    Suggestion do not mix:

    Motherboard ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
    Memory OCZ DDR3 Gold 4Gb 1333MHz

    Thanks again.

I had the same problem. It began to crash every few hours. I installed Uniblue Registry Booster and it cleaned up the registry. Then i defragged the registry using their defrag tool. No more crashing, no more problem. I have used it on my other computers and was kind of surprised i needed it so soon on my new VAIO.
