BSoD on startup

Hi.

Getting random BSoD's on my (relatively) new build.

Built this rig just after Christmas/early this year with all new parts (other than a second SSD that I have games installed on)

This second SSD is not always being recognised in BIOS at boot up. Now starting to wonder if that has something to do with the crashes.

SSD worked fine in previous system as the primary drive.

Sometimes when it IS recognised in BIOS, the game icon shortcuts do not load correctly and all that is there is the MS default icons. I then get a pop up the same as you would get when inserting a DVD or flash drive/memory stick, giving options as to what you want to do.

The BSoD's happen 100% of the time straight after boot up when everything has been loaded. On reboot, the PC runs great and will play games (Crysis3, BF3 etc.) with no issues.

· Windows 7 Pro x64
· Full retail version
· 2 months since first install

· CPU < 4790K not OC'd
· Memory < Corsair Vengeance Pro 9CL 1866 16Gb
· Video Card < ASUS Strix GTX970
· MotherBoard < MSI Z97 Gaming 3 BIOS 2.0A
· Power Supply < Corsair HX750i

RAM was running at XMP speed initially, so I have tried running it with stock settings & still have the BSoD's,

Please remove Bitdefender and use Microsoft Security Essentials as alternative while troubleshooting.

Bitdefender is the cause of multiple crashes.

Doing that now.

Had Bitdefender on my last build with no issues, hence why I have it now.

Hopefully it is that simple :).

Just so you know, I am GMT + 8 hours and about to hit the sack.

Thanks for helping me out with this. Gets hard at my age trying to nut these things out, even though I try :)

Let me know how it goes within a few days please. I think a few days at least should be enough to determine if the problem is gone or still persists.

No Worries :).

Just something else I forgot to ask.

After a crash, sometimes some installed software would revert to previous settings. MBAM would say there has never been a scan on this PC. Origin client would put the default files path for saved games back. When starting Crysis3 I would get a message that an update was available, but there is nothing updated (hasn't been for a long time).

Could this be something to do with having an SSD instead of an HDD?

Ok. crash yesterday morning and again this morning. Yesterday was immediately after boot. This morning I had the browser open and about to follow a link when it crashed.

Please remove all items from the startup except for security programs
How to remove items from startup - Windows 7 Help Forums
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Please make sure the SSD firmware is up to date and run following tests on the SSD for more information about the status of your SSD.

Diagnostics Test

HDD TEST

Run chkdsk
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums

Run HDTune to

scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
check the health,
benchmark.

It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
Let me know what the results are

of the error scan,
make a screenshot of the health of every hard drive and post the screenshots,
post screenshots with the benchmark of the
- transfer rate,
- access time,
- burst rate,
- cpu usage.

Do you want the tests run on each drive?

Running them on the OS drive atm.

Startup entries disabled.

Checkdisk came up with no problems on all drives.

Both SSD's look ok in HD Tune.
