    BSOD on W7 x64

    Hi

I am new on this forum, so hello everyone

I have installed W7 x64 on a new computer, which is in fact performant :
    Asus P7P55 Deluxe
    Core I7 860
    Nvidia GTX295
    8gb Gskill memory
    (I haven't paid it myself )

Unfortunately, the system in very instable : Aero often crash, explorer crash sometimes, and I have BSODs 1 or 2 times per days (with 4 hours of utilisation).
The problem is that errors are not always the same

Yesterday I had a BSOD with Memory_Management, and today a BSOD with Pool_corruption.

Here are the two reports :

    Code:

I have tried a memtest86 (one pass), the windows memory test, a prime95 (15 minutes calculation without an error).
The drivers are all the windows 7 native drivers, except the video driver, and today I have installed Asus AI Suite to update the ACPI driver.
The ACPI driver was know to cause crashs on W7, but it don't seems to be the real problem...

    My antivirus is Antivir.

Does someone have an idea about what I can do to find the source of all these errors ? :)

    Hi and welcome

In order for memtest to work you need to run it for hours. Preferably overnight

You might also want to stop overclocking if you are and update the critical drivers

    Hope this helps

Hi Thank you for you answer :)

I made it run a memtest during all this night (it is 8h am here ), and after 7 pass and a half (7h30 of test), no errors.
And in fact, I don't use overclocking on this computer. (only the automatic turbo boost). The BIOS is set on default values.

I think I will reinstall all the OS and update all possible drivers. Maybe with chance it will solve the problem...

I will try it monday, and report you if it works or not.

If you're going to re-install, make sure it;s a "clean" install.

However you will need to re-install all your 3rd party application.

Well, it was a clean install (I think) :)

The only third party soft I have to reinstall for now are Office 2007 and Need For Speed Shift (a game).
Of course, there are Firefox and 7Zip, but they are clean.

I will desactivate two of the three HDD, and everything that is not usefull during the install. Then Update W7, update all drivers, and install the Antivirus.

Does it sound clean for you ? :)

On install, just click the Advanced button and that will be the "clean" install option.

Then no problems, I cannot upgrade or anything like that, so it is always an Advanced install :)

Thank you for your advices, I will try and report as soon as possible. Maybe one week to be sure about the stability.

Its not always, but an upgrade leaves useless files on your system and can cause conflicts.

One time, I upgraded form Win 98 to Windows 2000
Such a mess ! Half softwares were out, and the others were crashing all the time.
If I remember well, only Starcraft was working.

Since that time, I have never used an upgrade install :)

I found that out myself. I know the file system very well and looking through the System32 directory, I noticed files that seemed to be leftover from Windows 98, I right-clicked, choose properties and sure enough, the version was something like 4.11 98

I checked more and found many more, then starting deleted all them and the system still worked fine.
