PC restarts only when in Games

    Hi,

This is my 1st post. I recently bought a new PC and I can be on it the whole day Coding, Browsing, Listening to music ect and everything will be fine, but as soon as I play games my PC will just reboot with no warning or error messages afterwards. There is also no specific duration that I can say that the problem happens; sometimes it’s an hour+ and sometimes its 10mins.

I have already tried the latest drivers and the ones that I got with the PC.

This is what my BIOS shows:

    Voltages:
    CPU Voltage: 1.84V
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.812V
    QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.177V
    IOH Voltage: 1.138V
    IOH PCIE Voltage: 1.508V
    ICH Voltage: 1.111V
    ICH PCIE Voltage: 1.508V
    DRAM BUS Voltage: 1.508V
    3.3V Voltage: 3.344V
    5.V Voltage: 5.046V
    12.V Voltage: 12.137V

    Tempretures:
    CPU Temp: 38.5 C
    MB Temp: 35 C
    NB Temp: 49 C
    SB Temp: 50 C

    Fan Speeds:
    CPU Fan Speed: 1560 RPM
    Chassis Fan1 Speed: 1030 RPM
    Power Fan Speed: 3540 RPM
    OPT Fan2 Speed: 1026 RPM

    Please guys need some help...?

Please provide us with the following:

1-Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump, zip up the contents of the folder and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

If you can't do it due to access denied errors, post back for suggestions.
If there's nothing in the folder, check to make sure the system is set to make minidumps. Instructions here: Set MiniDump

2-Go to Start and type in "msinfo32" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Save the report as an .nfo file (the default), zip it up and upload the .zip file with your next post.

Ok my Minidump was not set up like that, so I did it. Will post again after the restart happens again if the Minidump contains something.

But here's the msinfo32 report so long, let me know if there is something wrong or more I can do?

Are you trying to run two different cards a 1GB x2GPU Matrix and a 512GB single GPU in SLI? I can't help but to think that is the source of your problems. Even if it's not an SLI problem, running three full house GPU's off a 750watt PSU is cutting it close.

Not at all. I'm only running 1 Matrix GPU. I have my old card(GTX280) that I swapped with my Matrix GPU to see if it was a faulty graphics card. But the
restart stil happens. So I'm guessing it must be something else.

    Solved

Thanks for all the advise guys, the problem has been solved.
What I did was: I used a voltmeter to check the volts that the PSU is pushing out on each rail and all the volts were fine. But my PC still had the problem where it restarts only when I play games. So I thought that it might be that the Volts only go wrong when my PC is under load(playing games) and that I couldn’t test with the voltmeter because It would mean that I had to play a game and unplug the rails while in game. So what I did was, I took a old 750Watt AOpen PSU and put it in my PC.

Then everything worked fine, I left my PC in game the whole time for like 10 hours and it did not Restart. And I played like 3 of that hours.

Like I was saying before, cutting it close on the PSU usually doesn't pay off and those Asus Matrix cards are famous for pulling some major power. In general, a restart when gaming usually points to a PSU problem which is why it was one of the first things I mentioned.

Quote from me: Even if it's not an SLI problem, running three full house GPU's off a 750watt PSU is cutting it close.

In case you didn't realize it, I pointed you in the right direction here, with my very first statement.

And in my opinion it takes at least 850watts to run a 200 series card in SLI properly. I've seen way to many problems when people try to skate by on a low powered PSU's. I've also seen total destruction of the motherboard and other hardware just from using an under powered PSU. Feel free to tip my scale if I helped.

Weak or undercurrent psu for a given system, even if no crashes happen, can cause poor performance for the video card too.

    I agree Torrentg,

Weak PSU's can also wreck havoc if your trying to overclock any part of your system., in a nutshell,... if your running SLI or overclocking then the PSU probably isn't the best place to try and save a buck on the build. I've seen guys argue back and forth on this so many times, but in the end, more PSU is better and safer than less.

Heck I'm using a 1000watt PSU with a single GTX280 "overkill" but also more future proof. I'll be able to drop in a couple of 300 series card without having to worrie about it.

Needless to say I don't have any problems with my overclocking or with system performance.
