freaking explorer.exe munching half my cpu utilization

    freaking explorer.exe munching half my cpu utilization


    Hi Guys

    my explorer.exe is driving me nuts no matter how many times i kill the process about 5 or ten minutes later it starts running at 45 - 50% again for no reason what so ever...i'm at my wits end i've restarted, repaired, restored and nothing seems to work.....wtf is going on..
    updates were downloaded last night which where the xml core service pack 2 for x64-based systems and the update for windows 7 for x64-based systems (kb976098)

    i installed them this morning....
    Only other major change is that its a fresh install as of the 20th of november
    running mcafee total protection - up to date and ran several scans to no avail

    only picked it up this evening as of 21:35 time is now 22:39 which is weird cos i have had my pc on since 17:15 and played Modern warfare 2 until 19:00 watched some mythbusters then as soon as i started playing Fifa 10 it was lagging like a

    Uninstall McAfee to test. Disabling will have no effect.

    which is an issue cos it's installed on my last of the three user licenses
    which i bought three months ago

    Hi P

    Launch task manager by right clicking task bar. go to process tab. find IE if it is using a lot of resources>right click> create dmp file. when it is finished creating the dmp file sip it and upload it to us using the attachment icon see pic
