lockup with explorer, 7 Ultimate x64 Whenever I use Explorer extensively for copying & pasting files between locations - no matter what the locations on my HDD, or whether I right-click or use Ctrl+C,Ctrl+V - explorer.exe seems to lock up, and will no longer dynamically display the change of information (such as when one file replaces another or is added to the folder). A restart by killing the process, then using WindowsKey+R >> explorer.exe always manages to fix it. | My System Specs |

One way to find out what is going on is to type event viewer in search. go to the windows log>application tab. You need to be looking for errors (they have red in the lef thand column) look for errors with app hang, app crash, or anything woth IE in it. when you find them use the snipping tool built in to win 7 (lype snipping in search) to make a screen shot of it. To upload it to us uswe the attacjment icon (shaped like a paper clip) on the reply form.
thanks

Use Process Explorer (free here: Process Explorer )
Open up Process Explorer
Make explorer.exe freeze
Check for the threads operating under explorer.exe (right click, select Properties, select the Threads tab)
Let us know what threads are running there (especially any that are consuming a lot of resources).
