    Errors in Event Viewer

    Hi;
    Since installing Windows 7 Ultimate on my system about 5 weeks ago, I have seen a lot of warnings and errors in Event Viewer.

    Here are just a few of them:

    The following are all ERRORS

    Volsnap: The shadow copies of volume K: were aborted during detection.

    VSS: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80070005, Access is denied.
    . This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process.

    Operation:
    Gathering Writer Data

    Context:
    Writer Class Id: {e8132975-6f93-4464-a53e-1050253ae220}
    Writer Name: System Writer
    Writer Instance ID: {3339f6c7-4bf5-4e24-8c7d-4f3356f6b7ce}

    Service Control Manager: The NVIDIA Display Driver Service service has reported an invalid current state 32.

    Kernel Event Tracing: Session "Circular Kernel Context Logger" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035

    SessionName Circular Kernel Context Logger

    FileName

    ErrorCode 3221225525

    LoggingMode 268436608
    (This one occurred 34 times in 34 seconds on one occasion last week)

    The following are all WARNINGS:

    Search: The content source <csc://{S-1-5-21-3272879573-59663179-1210071305-1001}/> cannot be accessed.

    Context: Application, SystemIndex Catalog

    Details:
    The object was not found. (HRESULT : 0x80041201) (0x80041201)

    User Profile Service: Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

    NTFS: The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

    NTFS: The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume WIN7.

    The system appears to be running properly, so I'm wondering whether these errors are more nusiances than anything else.

    I would appreciate any advice on this.

    Thanks

    Errors in the Event Viewer are anything but "nusiances" whether any of them are serious is another question entirely as I cannot say for sure.

    Click Start > type: Services

    Scroll down to 'Volume Shadow Copy' and ensure that the service is started and Startup Type set to 'Automatic', if it is, try stopping the service and start it again

    I would run chkdsk /r in safe mode with command prompt, then uninstall the old nvidia drivers, run driver sweeper, and install the newest drivers in safe mode. The guide in my sig has more info.

    Hi and welcome

    where in event viewer are you getting these errors? windows logs>application, or system?

    Most of these errors relate to VSS backups that failed because of a hardware problem on the destination disk (i think)

    Thanks for your replies guys;

    These errors are appearing under Admin Events.
    The NVidia error has been occurring since first install. I have always had the latest drivers installed, and just upgraded to the new driver last week.

    The Volsnap error has also been around since first install. Someone earlier suggested that I don't have enough space allocated for VSS, so I changed it and still get the error.
    I am using a removable USB HDD for the backups, so maybe either that drive is going bad, or the interface itself is bad. I would put my bet on the interface, since I have had some issues with other drives in the same box.
    Maybe I'll try installing the HDD from the USB box into the IDE channel instead. I do like the idea of a removable backup, but it might reveal something.

    Since I have a dual-boot with Win XP Pro on the machine (same physical drive, different partition), I can run it for a while and see whether any of the errors occur there. If so, then it would probably be a hardware issue; otherwise, I've probably got a driver issue in 7.

    I'll keep watching this thread for any new ideas, and will use the advice I have been given here to start troubleshooting.

    I haven't yet tried installing the NVidia drivers in safe mode. I didn't think I could do that. I should also try re-installing them after shutting down Norton Internet Security 2010.

    Thanks again.

    I know this is a few months old, but I wanted to share that I had similar strange hard disk errors with my P55 Asus board and Raid 0 SSD volume.

    It turns out that it was Win 7's power saving features, specifically something called Link State Power Managment or something like that. Try going into the advanced section of the power scheme, and disable ever power saving feature one by one. See if that works.

    I wanted to post this out here in case any other poor soul is googling like mad trying to figure this out!

    Thanks for the assist;
    I have been poking around in the advanced power, for other reasons though; I'll check it out.

    Thanks
