BSOD after installing and running Motorola Phone Tools I just installed Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) v4.3.6 and ran its x64 USB driver to get the phone connected. I connected my V3XX phone, ran a quick text message test and it all worked fine. As I was minding my own business when the phone was still connected and MPT minimized to the tray, I was BSOD'ed. Mini dump was generated and I've attached (120809-34991-01.zip) to this thread.
I opened it in WinDBG x64 and ran the following commands Code: !thread;!analyze -v;r;kv;lmtn;lmtsmn;.bugcheck;.logclose;q log is attached as well ( BSOD_0f98_2009-12-08_11-46-42-638.txt )
any help is much appreciated! | My System Specs |

It's a little simpler than that although that was good advice. Code: Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\motmodem.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for motmodem.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for motmodem.sys
GetPointerFromAddress: unable to read from fffff80002ca80e0
Probably caused by : motmodem.sys ( motmodem+31d1 ) Uninstall the software. No good.
But you'll be much better off by uninstalling AVG too, the highest bsod/poor performance/poor stability causer on pcs.
Reinstall the software after uninstalling AVG. If it still crashes then use neither. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

Thanks folks.
@TG: I am running a sfc /scannow; i will try lauching MPT after the scan
@torrent: You suggesiton seems a bit radical. This specific version of MPT worked on WinXP (same machine) without any issues; after Windows 7 upgrade this is the first time I'm using MPT after figuring out the driver compatibility with x64 resulted in a BSOD. Also, I'm not clear about your AVG suggestion either. This version of AVG has been on this machine since WinXP days. I'm not sure if its the software or something else? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Latitude 630 OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Intel Core Duo Memory 4 GB System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

@TG: After sfc /scannow; I haven't seen BSOD. but its been just a day, I'll post back if I see BSOD. thanks for your assistance
@torrent: You obviously hold a superior status than I do, I just wanted to understand your thought process. I'm sure you had a good reason for the suggestion | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Latitude 630 OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Intel Core Duo Memory 4 GB |

If you want to understand the thoughts, it's all in post number 3 in this thread.
sfc /scannow is not going to fix that. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

I had almost exactly the same thing happen to me: I had a broken Motorola V3, and I installed MPT and successfully used it to extract my address book from the old phone - it was when I plugged in the replacement phone and hit the Restore button to push the address book data into the new phone I bluescreened (twice). I'm using W7Ux64 but I was using the RC for months and this is the first time I've seen this happen. I'm angry, upset, disoriented, confused and slightly peckish actually. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ult x64 CPU i7 920 Motherboard GA-EX58-UD5 Memory 6GB DDR3 Graphics Card GF 9400GT Monitor(s) Displays Syncmaster 233HD Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Case HAF 920 Hard Drives loads BSOD after installing and running Motorola Phone Tools problems?
