BSOD at start (video driver....)
I've been trying to resolve a BSOD at startup error.
Win 7 Ultimate on newly formatted HD.
1. have installed updated chipset and bios on MB.
2. Installed Win 7 and got BSOD (pointing to nvlddmkm.sys)
3. removed video driver and restarted with generic driver...system booted fine.
4. Let win 7 update, and got BSOD again, pointing to nvlddmkm.sys
5. again reverted to generic, and this time updated using the nvidia driver executable file on their website.
6. BSOD pointing to nvlddmkm.sys
7. verified that memory, MB, etc. was part of the approved set from ASUS.
My hardware:
ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution with anywhere from 2 to 6 gig, depending on when I tested it.
Core i7 920 cpu
Nvidia GTX 285 video card
1TB SATA HD in IDE mode. (Someone previosuly told me to try AHCI, which was a red herring)
Anyone have thoughts about what to try next? I'm using the 64-bit version of Win 7, but have the same issue when I have tried the 32-bit version.
Have also tried one rev back of nvidia drivers, with same results. I can run Win 7 in generic video driver mode, but it crashed if I try to use the manufacturer's driver for the video card.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Added minidump file, per the kind link below on how I should have asked for help.
