monitor display crash

Hi,

In the past couple weeks, I've been having my display/screen crash on me randomly, I'm not sure if its the display or program that I'm using, or maybe even the driver itself. I installed 7 Pro 32-bit about a month ago, and then I just went to the HP site to reinstall the drivers for my laptop. But the site didnt have any new windows 7 drivers yet, so I had to go with my old vista drivers on there. The only way back to my desktop is through manual rebooting using the power button =\. Usually it happens when I start to use the more demanding programs like maybe games and watching videos. The crash shows lines or a blur of what I had on my screen and there would be multiple lines all over the entire screen. When the display crashes, the computer just freezes too. I think its my driver? Not sure. So, below is my info, any help or recommendations is much appreciated thanks.

Installed RAM: 2.00GB
System-type: 32-bit OS
Now using: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Hi and welcome

when you installed the vista driver did you nstall them in "compatibility" mode?

If not you might want to give that a shot. to do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility check vista.

I tried reinstalling the driver with the installer and setting it to vista compatible, but the installer itself is corrupted somehow. I don't know what to do now. Any other solutions??

I have had the same problem recently with this video card. I am getting very frustrated and not sure what the fix is. This is happening on with both XP and VISTA systems on my laptop with the Go6150. It's starting to appear as more of an overheat issue than anything else, although there is some people saying it is a driver issue.

My System;
Compaq F730us
AMD Athlon x2 1.8Ghz
Nividia GeForce Go6150
1gb Ram
OS XP and VISTA (dual boot)

Randomly the machine crashes and displays a blur of what was on the screen, everything else becomes inactive as well, ie no sound, no HD operation, no response to key presses. The only way to shut down/reboot is hold the power button for 10 secs. I know this is a Win7 forum, but this problem does not seem to be associated with a particular OS. I am going to try to update drivers, but only if the system will stay UP long enough, the crashes used to be 30-60 min and now are becoming more frequent.
