Windows Media Player Issue, Unresponsive or not Closing So my issue is this,
I am running Windows 7 Pro on my system right now after having used windows 7 RC for 6 months without issue.
To clarify I did carry out a full format and clean install of Pro.
My issue now is that often WMP will play music or films etc but the controls will not function, including media keys on the keyboard. And while I could close it the music will still play. If I open the task manager I will see WMP listed using memory but "0%" cpu but still playing music...
It is rather strange and it is something I'd like to put a stop to, In addition I should mention that the program in general is sluggish in its performance. | My System Specs |

Welcome!
Even though I would have gone for Ultimate, run sfc /scannow at an elevated command prompt. Can you also post a screenshot of your installed apps and the startup tab from msconfig. Also, update all your drivers with the guide in my sig. Update via device manager for any unknown devices or choose from a list if you have them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio Z46GDU OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64 CPU P9700@2.8GHz 1066MHz FSB Motherboard Sony branded Memory 6GB DDR3 1066MHz Graphics Card 9300M GS 256MB Dedicated (Speed) + Intel4500MHD (Stamina) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13.1' WXGA Screen Resolution 1600x900 Hard Drives 320GB 7200RPM w/ 16MB cache Internet Speed 1MB/s |

Here are the Screenshots, my drivers are the newest versions I'm aware of.

I've never seen msconfig with so much junk. Go through add/remove programs and start getting rid of apps, do the same with the startup tab. I'm surprised startup doesn't take a few hours. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio Z46GDU OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64 CPU P9700@2.8GHz 1066MHz FSB Motherboard Sony branded Memory 6GB DDR3 1066MHz Graphics Card 9300M GS 256MB Dedicated (Speed) + Intel4500MHD (Stamina) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13.1' WXGA Screen Resolution 1600x900 Hard Drives 320GB 7200RPM w/ 16MB cache Internet Speed 1MB/s |

Argh I've said that before to people and never quite realized how arrogant it sounds >.< Yes i have a few apps that sit there and eat up memory, frankly I have enough memory that it doesn't impact performance in any meaningful way and my bootup time is still faster then the time it takes for me to finish putting on my pants when I'm getting dressed in the morning.

Anyhow tried that solution, sadly it's not worked. The program is still behaving oddly with the best example being if I close the program while watching a film or listening to music and later hit the play key on my keyboard it will automatically start playing again even though the app is not visible on the task manager etc. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Windows 7 Professional CPU Q6600 Motherboard ASUS P5KC Memory 4056mb by Kingston Graphics Card ASUS Geforce 280GTX Sound Card Creative Soundblaster Xi-Fi Elite Pro Monitor(s) Displays IIyama B2403WS PSU 500W Enermax Case Antec 280SE Cooling Noctuna NH-U12P Hard Drives 500GB SATA2 Seagate

I have not tried this program, but I read about it. No guarantees of sucess, but try it. Let us know how it works out. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i7 2600K OC'd @ 4620 MHz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro Memory 16GB GSkill Sniper 2133 Mhz (4x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK320 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK320 (wireless) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w (modular) Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition Cooling CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler, 3x 230mm + 1x 140mm case fans Hard Drives 64GB Crucial M4 SSD
