    lagg spikes

well..i got few days ago new laptop..and from the beginning it has this damn annoying problem. In every 2 hours it starts lagging for 5-10sec or so and in every 2min. Some program or something causes that i guess. Only way to get rid of this is to do restart..but i just bought it..what the hell is wrong with it. Any advice what to do? windows 7 is pretty new for me too..so i have no idea from where to start. Theres no way i can do something..when this lagg comes..music starts doing weird noise and everything is megaslow

    Welcome to the forum pkkaba.

Have you been to the Windows update center yet? If not you should go there and get all important updates for your system. Start/all programs/windows update

If updating doesn't change things then it probably has something to do with all the adware and usually malware that comes preinstalled on systems these days. I would go through all of your preinstalled programs and delate every single bit of software that you don't need, including those lame AV software ads which seem to be intent on making you purchase their software, especially Norton. Using "add remove programs" in the control panel usually works well for that.

Be careful what you uninstall, you don't want to uninstall something you need. Some of those programs are very useful and are also required for certain functions on your laptop. Others are just advertisments that will only cause you problems. You can usually tell the difference fairly easily.

I have to agree with everything that was said and would like to add some thoughts of my own. I have found that for a few days Win 7 does not perfom at peak performance. It has a lot of chores to catch up on. If you have "just enough" memory any activity can cause lags. I think that the most likely suspects are your Anti Virus, computer maintenance (system restore, system image and back up and restore) which is making copies of your OS and hard drive. I changed the default of once a day for images, etc to once a week. I can always make a manual restore point, if I make an important change.

With Win 7, changing the programs that start with boot, does not do too much good. This is 7 and not Vista, which needed those tweeks.

I think the Windows updates were the problem. I've seen that lots of times where new machines won't run right until after Windows is updated.
Glad you have it working pkkaba.
