Windows 7 Crashing Repeatedly

Hi

First post here after seeing the great support you guys have provided to others

I have an issue where my brothers packard bell pc (details against my profile) keeps crashing repeatedly since installing the full cklean install of windows 7.

Previously the RC1 version was installed for a few months and never had any problems. I have followed all of the debugging instructions in the sticky and am getting 'probably caused by: hardware'

Is this the end of the road finding out the cause of the problem as it points to hardware? When the computer has been crashing we've had to hold the power button in to reboot, could this dump just be reporting that as a hardware fault?

I ran whocrashed and it reports WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR which as explained above might relate to the hard reboots being performed when it crashes.

Any help would be really appreciated. any other info required let me know.

just seen this in the event viewer - "Performance power management features on processor 1 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware."

Any ideas what driver/firmware it refers to?

Thanks BTW bugcheck 124 is hardware related but could be the cpu, ram, or a controller.

So the vista driver fault bit in the dump isn't really relevant? Does that not confirm for sure that one of my drivers needs updating as it's incompatible? What is the relevance of the kernel processor mentioned, is there a driver directly related to this that I could update?
