I'm guessing i need to type that into CMD?...
    opened up command and typed

    D:
    regsvr32 mbamext.dll

    A window popped up...

"Regsvr32 - The module "mbamext.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found"

This is what you need to run from a command prompt (see instructions in link):
    mbam-setup.exe

Saved mbam-setup to my external harddrive. got it running on the new computer, during installation i get a message...

    "mbam.exe -unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because MSVBVM60.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem"

I click ok - The message appears three more times.

after the installation, malwarebytes gives me the option to check for updates, and to run after i hit finish. both items are checked.

    after clicking finish, nothing happens...

    Ackk!

See if this will download and install:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    Or

Here it is, along with a command prompt
    VBRun60sp6.exe installs Visual Basic 6.0 SP6 run-time files

This is going to be a long way around, but since she has no CD/DVD drive to boot from, you'll have to do this with your computer. Then start her computer from the external drive using the Avira rescue.
