We've been experiencing shut-down problems for a while now. I think it has been since we installed some software/hardware that does not yet have drivers for windows 7 and we are using it in compatability mode. The hardware - an interface for my husband to use while he records music on the pc - does have pudated drivers but the software does not. We are not using the windows 7 driver for the hardware because the software will not detect it otherwise.
We bought the computer specifically for this programme as our laptop did not have the capability to run it efficiently.
We think that leaving the harddrive plugged in when the computer goes to standby may contribute but we haven't really been paying attention. When it happened the most recent time I unplugged the harddrive before taking the computer out of standby. I have been using the computer for a good 10mins before bluescreen happened. There was a message it had happened before that but I don't know when or why.
The blue screen shows (I think) DRIVE_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. I have attached the minidump details as requested.
I have read a number of threads on here, all with different advice and, as I do not have any technical knowledge regdaring computers, I am reluctant to try anything that involves restoring factory settings or losing information without instructions I actually understand.
Information I can find to provide is...
