Windows 7 64-bit random BSOD

I just built a computer, and may have bitten off more than I can chew. I randomly get the blue screen of death (sometimes surfing the web, sometimes while using windows explorer, sometimes when doing nothing). I took the computer into microcenter for a check where they did a memory/driver test, and did not find any issues. I have attached two seperate BSOD error messages - the first is when I was trying to transfer music from an external HD, which a BSOD almost always happens while doing. The second is from a BSOD when I had just clicked on "computer" from the start menu. In addition to random BSODs, I also sometimes freeze up, and have to power off the computer manually. Again, that occurs randomly. The most similar previous post I have found so far is from this link:

I have run the "verifier" but do not know how to find the minidump files.

Below is my system specs:

Motherboard = Gigabyte P55-UD3R
VideoCard = ATI Radeon HD4650
Memory = 2x Corsair XMS3 DDR3 2GB (total of 4GB)
Processor = Intel i5-750 (LGA 1156)
Power = Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W
HD = Seagate Barracuda SATA 1TB 32MB Cache 7200RPM
External HD = Seagate 300GB 3.5" push-button (that's all I know, it's from 2006).

Thanks for the instructions. I have attached all the dump files that were in the folder. I experienced 2 BSODs while trying to zip the minibumps. Thanks.

When I try and do that, it says "file not found, or no read permission" I have attached a screen shot of the error.

Your problems are very typical for an enthusiast board. Unless you make some changes in bios the problem won't go away.





From the Corsair forum try this. This pretains to your model gygabyte board and Windows 7.

• Reducing RAM speed to 1066MHz by reducing the multiplier to 8.0 appears to have resolved the hanging issues. Prime95 ran for 1hr with no issues.

• Restoring RAM speed to 1333MHz by setting the multiplier to 10.0 and increasing to voltage to 1.64v (previously at 1.5v) also appears to have resolved the hanging issues. Prime95 ran for 1hr with no issues.
  **This is the first time I have been able to run Win 7 x64 with all 4 cores enabled for > 15mins without the system hanging*

Adjusting the memory frequency and voltage appears to have helped. It is hard to know if it is 100% fixed because the BSOD has been so random. So, I don't know if it's fixed or if I just haven't generated the BSOD yet. However, the BSOD ALWAYS used to appear when trying to transfer my music from an external HD onto the computer. After adjusting the memory frequency and voltage, I was able to transfer my music no problems. Thanks, I will let you know if I get any more BSODs!

If you found a solution please let me know. I am having the same issues and don't know what else to do. Memtest passes and same issues as everyone. Please let me know if you found something that worked. Built computer for
Christmas and problems from day one.

Sfarmer14 - adjusting the memory frequency completely solved my problems. I have not received a BSOD in over a month of continuous use. I kept the voltage at 1.5V, but lowered the frequency from 1333 Hz to 1000 Hz. Good luck!
